This morning for the first time when my alarm went off at stupid a’clock I wasn’t fuzzy, heavy headed and in deep sleep like I normally am. Why? Well Mr Sun was seeping his gentle rays through my blinds to subtly awake me from my slumber.

As much as Winter I enjoy your fresh breath on my cheeks, your occasional white sprinklings and your festive times I’m afraid i’ve always had a better relationship with Spring. As such, this country casuals mood board echoes the early feel of spring time of farms and flowers, rustic charm and vintage touches. Casual Fun.

The sessions will last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how many people book. I am asking people to donate as much as they can afford to the Haiti appeal in exchange for my time. After the session your images will be available to view on an online gallery and you will be able to order prints, canvases etc. All the profits made from these sales will also go to Haiti.

At the end of April I met up with Tracey and Sam for a beautiful engagement shoot. The weather was just right and the park we went to was full of Spring delights.

These guys was so much fun to photograph. I can’t wait for their wedding in a couple of weeks!

Last week I became an Aunty for the first time and this week I was lucky enough to photograph my niece when she was just 5 days old.

I can’t believe my little guy is nearly a month old! Wow!

He’s growing fast and we’re loving having him as part of our family.

Having a little baby again has renewed my love of newborn photography and I am getting lots of requests for baby photography again. So, I’m working on some special packages and ideas. Watch this space over the next couple of weeks!

Towards the end of last year I became a member of Greener Photography in a bid to make Emily Quinton Photography more environmentally friendly and green in 2009.

Greener Photography is a member-supported, non-profit organization set up by Thea Dodds and Dawn Tacker who are both based in the United States, with the aim to enable photographers to share ideas and practices to become greener. I am currently only one of two Greener Photography members based in the UK, so come on UK photographers join in!

I currently aim to be green by using recycled stationery, working from home and turning off my MAC when I’m not using it. But I know there’s so much more I can and will do to help the environment through my business.

The first step I am going to take in 2009 is to reduce my print ordering and dispatching to once a week. This may mean that some clients have to wait a couple of extra days for their prints but it saves on the packaging and delivering of the prints. At busy times I have been known to send an order to print every day of the week, resulting in 7 different packages being sent to me, when 1 could have done the job perfectly. I will also have made 4-5 trips to the Post Office, when again 1 would have worked much better. Read more about shipping on the Greener Photography site.

A few weeks ago this beautiful baby’s aunty emailed me to see if she could book a newborn shoot for her sister’s baby. I hesitated at first because my calendar was very full and I’d decided not to book any more portrait sessions until next Spring. However, being 34 weeks pregnant I couldn’t resist a newborn shoot!
And I’m so glad I said yes. What a beautiful little baby girl!

Early next year we will be launching our new range of portrait collections, including beautiful birth announcement cards like these, so watch this space!
