about

Emily Quinton is an award-winning female photographer who mainly works in and around London. She uses natural light to create her distinctive stylish and feminine images.

I didn’t ever plan to become a professional photographer but I have always had a camera close by for as long as I can remember. My passion, love and hobby became my career. That is a very wonderful thing. But it can be a dangerous one too. Running your own business, even one you adore, will always result in some level of stress. This can take the love away from the very thing you have always been passionate about. It is very important for me, as an artist, not to lose that passion and creativity. And it is for that reason that I am now very committed to regularly taking a step back and making sure I am still in tune with my art and my camera, and true to myself.

I love making beautiful pictures for people to treasure today and forever. I love helping people to relax in front of the camera, resulting in natural and creative images. I want my clients to be proud of their photographs.

Family Photography
From Spring 2012 my main focus will be on family photography. I have loved working with newborns, young children and whole families (including grandparents!) for many years but it has always come second to my wedding commitments, mainly because my wedding clients book so far in advance and fill up my diary. Last year I reflected on where I want to take my business and how I can continue to build my business to fit around my life as a mother and a wife. I adore children and as a mother of three myself I have loved photographing my family as we have grown. I know that this is where my passion lies and I want to put more time into this side of my business.
Capturing those early weeks, months and years is so precious and completely wonderful. Children grow up so fast and moments are missed forever. Don’t let them go!
I work out on location, in natural light, often in clients’ homes and gardens or in local parks, where children really feel at home and relaxed.

Weddings
I have been shooting weddings since 2006 and have loved travelling across the UK and working in some amazing venues with some fabulous couples.
Weddings are full to the brim with love, happiness, individuality, families, friends and the most amazing details. What could be a more perfect place to create beautiful, creative and lasting images?

They are beautiful and very special occasions.

However, for now I am really restricting the number of weddings and am only considering weddings in Central London or within 30 minutes of Harpenden, where I currently live. I particularly love small, intimate weddings and if you are planning such an event and want to talk to me about shorter coverage or something a little more creative than my standard 6 hours of coverage then please do drop me a line and I will be very happy to discuss what you are looking for and see if I can work within your budget.

Fine Art
My current fine art work continues with my series of limited edition botanical images, which began with my illustrations for my PhD thesis on ornamental plant hunting.

And when I put my camera down…
I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my husband Stef, our three young children and our friends. I write a family lifestyle blog and read far too many lovely magazines. I have an obsession with interior design (in preparation for one day creating our dream family home), pattern and crafting. To keep myself strong and sane I go running and practice yoga. And I bake lots of cakes!
